I am now trialing shakes for breakfast and lunch to put myself in the shoes of my clients that like to go down that track, or have been down that track before. Everyone is unique and there is no one size fits all in terms of weight loss.
But I discovered something about the uniqueness in me. I love having crunch at lunch! I also love the foods that I get to eat at lunch that are on my food list. They fuel my body, allow me to go for longer periods before I get hungry, and I look forward to them.
I can maintain a shake at breakfast, and I quite like the ease of making it and ensuring I have some yummy berries added with some full fat yoghurt to fill me up till lunch. But when it came to having a shake at lunch I felt resentful that I couldn't have my normal egg and avocado combination.
So the moral of the story is to eat in a way that: fuels your body so you don't need to snack in between, does not make you feel deprived (which can lead to overeating or binge eating), and to choose foods that you enjoy. This makes for easier weight loss with sustained results.
